Networking is not a numbers game. The idea is not to see how many people you can meet; the idea is to compile a list of people you can count on.

We've made it to Spring! I don't know about all of you, but I'm feeling renewed. There's something about having the windows open... I've heard from just a few of you this month, but the news is good. Janet LaBerge, Dirty Deeds, Done Dirt Cheap, was interviewed by the Pembroke Mariner a few weeks ago, and was featured on the front page with a photo of her with her plow and her dogs! Sounds like an excellent article with great publicity, Janet. Teresa Burnett , Willow Designs, Inc . (www.willowdesignsinc.com), and Linda Merrill , Chameleon Interiors (www.chameleon-interiors.com), have been selected to participate in the Downtown Women's Club "Meet the Experts" Roundtable Event, to be held on May 5th, 6-8pm at the Marriot Long Wharf, Boston. Teresa will do a presentation called "Classic Design Mistakes" and Linda's will be on "Trend vs. Style". Their interior design roundtable is one of 10 topics to be offered that night, which range in content from home buying to personal coaching to PR Basics and Cold Calling. Attendees can select three 20 minutes roundtables to attend. Information is available through Teresa or Linda, or at www.downtownwomensclub.com. Congratulations to you both! I am happy to report that four photographs from my series, Confronting Cancer: Images of Strength and Hope, have been published in Mamm, a magazine for women facing breast or gynecological cancer. You can see much of the series on my website at www.gfergphoto.com/canc1.html. Please send your good news to me at gretje@gfergphoto.com. I'd love to pass on your glory! |
On behalf of the Networking, You Betcha! team, I would like to extend a big thank you to everyone who helped make this evening a night of fun and great networking. We greatly appreciate the efforts of Debbie Anders and Donna Mucci in the Network office and all of our sponsors, in particular our lead sponsors WH Cornerstone Investments; Gordon, Mond & Ott; & Fun Enterprises Inc. And a big thanks to Integrated Massage Therapies for their wonderful chair massages, with proceeds benefiting the Education Foundation. It was a great night for all! Lois Wood, Lois Wood Communications, www.lwcommunications.com, wants to thank Raquel Mullaney and her husband for asking her to design a new logo for their business "R Squared Enterprises", which is an umbrella company for their varied business ventures. Says Lois "I was honored to work with them!" Lois also sends a big thank you to Joan Collins, Personal Coach, who has been "helping and inspiring me make great leaps in my business growth!". And, finally, thanks go to her Roundtable Team: Joan Berson Professional Bookkeeping Services; Betty Ann Fortunato, Franchoice; Pat Masters, The TaxLadyEA; Mary McElroy, McElroy Associates; Lisa Rooney, LBR Direct; and Judy Siddell, Family Choice Mortgage, who are all so helpful for bouncing ideas around, and have encouraged Lois to try new business ideas! Lantana Lunch: Twenty-three master networkers were at this event in April. The sponsor this month was Carol Rio from Pillsbury Florist and we raffled off six beautiful floral arrangements. The spotlight speaker was Cheryl Brady from RBC Dain Rauscher who exhibited her professional approach to financial planning. Don't miss next month's lunch Monday, May 2nd. Blackfin Lunch: I have to be honest - I'm having trouble coming up with creative and witty ideas to describe this event. So how about this, it's awesome!! I sound like a surfer chic, but hey, it's sunny out so why not. If you aren't coming to this event, you are passing up great opportunities. We had 58 people this month and that number is steadily getting higher. We are making great strides and if you aren't on the bus you're going to be left behind! Don't delay in getting yourself registered-the next Blackfin lunch is Tuesday, May10th. Come and show us what you can do!! Business Builder Workshop - April 12th: This very informative workshop taught small business owners how to do email marketing to their clients and potential clients, why they should do email marketing, and how to make sure they do it legally. The presenters did an excellent job. The audience asked lots of questions, and hopefully left with a new tool for increasing their income. Professional Development Workshop - April 21st: Maria Recalde presented the ins and outs of the U.S. "anti-spam" law and how to legally do email marketing. She did a great job of telling us the bottom line without using confusing legalese. Her handouts were a tremendous resource, and her knowledge in the field of internet law is incredible. You learn so much from this small group setting. For ten bucks, it's the best deal in town! East Bay Grille Lunch: You know I am being very honest this month so I will say; the sunshine got us on this event. The sponsor was Jane Ford from Melaleuca introducing her new products and services and our spotlight was Susannah Brown from Webster, Nagle, Brown and Joyce. Susannah used humor to deliver a message about her services and the need for every individual to have 3 legal documents; will, power of attorney and health care proxy. Spring Fever definitely affected our Plymouth Luncheon, but we gained at least one new member! It was the first day that it was 84 degrees out this year, so I will let it slide. THIS TIME. Just a reminder, we ARE the premier networking organization on the South Shore, so who wouldn't want to be at this event? Don't miss next month's lunch in Plymouth on Wednesday, May 18th! Breakfast Event: This event is held the fourth Tuesday of each month. At press time we weren't there yet, so you'll need to come and see for yourself the opportunity it presents. The average attendance is 65 people; so don't miss it - Tuesday, May 26th at the Radisson in Rockland. Until next month... No more snoozing, let's get schmoozing!! Judy Siddell |
